Prologue

In the year 2013, scientists from Earth recieved a strange signal from outer space. This signal was thought to be a hoax or a mistake but, after more research, the scientists of Earth had finally found proof of extraterrestrial life outside of our solar system. The knowledge that we were not alone in this universe was exciting for some but terrifying to others; the World Government tried to hide this info from the public as best they could, but to no avail, soon the whole of the world knew of the signal and of the scientists findings. The populace was in an uproar and the streets lined with people holding signs that it would be the end of days. For two years, the government thought of what their next actions should be while trying to keep the chaos to a minimum. In 2015, the government devised a plan, they would create a task force of highly trained soldiers wielding the newest and strongest of weapons as well as wearing the most advanced armor they could create. This task force would defend the world, should the aliens be hostile; this task force would be called the Earth Defense Force and every nation would have a base of operations filled with soldiers to be trained into a member of the EDF. The world leaders announced their new united military force to the world and put the minds of the citizens at ease. As the EDF soldiers and bases had begun to appear across the globe, citizens and soldiers alike hoped that the beings who sent the transmission were wise and benevolent beings who Earth could welcome with open arms. Sadly, in the year 2017, the planets hopes for a peaceful meeting with these extraterrestrials was crushed by an armada of alien ships appearing at the edge of the solar system. All of humanity felt the might of the Ravagers, the name given to the aliens, as they planted nests for hideously overgrown creatures. These creatures were similar to insects except for their size and the rate at which they mutate into stronger and faster creatures, decimating city after city. World leaders called upon the forces of the EDF to protect their citizens as these giant insects and mechanical beings laid waste to the standard military forces and cities of the world. EDF soldiers began to push back against the Ravagers and destroyed any giant bug that came in their path. Despite the EDF’s efforts, no matter how hard they pushed back against the Ravager forces, the aliens would deploy a new, much deadlier weapon to push the EDF back. Humanity was losing. Earth and its citizens were losing all hope as the Ravagers crushed EDF, Military, and even innocent civilian forces with their might. The world was dying, blast by blast, and the human race was going extinct. EDF commanders decided to try one last mission, a suicide mission to attack the enemy mothership. Everyone put their hopes on the shoulders of an elite EDF squad, known as Storm squad, as the attack began. Every member of the Storm squad knew that this was their last chance and gave it their all in that final assault. As the battle drew on, Storm squad fought with everything they had, destroying wave after wave of Ravager forces until, finally, they shot down the mothership. Humanity had won its greatest victory, the mothership fell from the sky in a glorious rain of fire and explosions as Storm squad roared in victory. With the loss of their mothership, the Ravager forces had no choice but to retreat and leave behind the nests of the giant insects for the humans to deal with. Survivors across the world rejoiced as they watched the Ravagers leave Earth and all sang songs of victory as they held each other. Over the next year, the remaining EDF and military forces collaborated with each other to eliminate the remaining giant insects left on the planet. The scars of war were deep, but everyone rejoiced in victory as they began to rebuild the world. Ironically, the Ravager technology helped humanity rebuild faster than ever and, united by an outside enemy, the world joined together in peace. Eight years had passed since the world’s victory over the Ravagers and the reconstruction from the war was almost complete. Some believed that we, as humans, had overcome our final trial and that our reward was everlasting peace and prosperity; however, on June 28th, 2025, an emergency bell rang loud and clear across the world. Deep underground, a new plague had just been born.
